Hello everybody! Today I’m going to talk about this year, which is going to end. I want to make a evaluation of this 2014, because it was a year with a lot of expectations. I think, this year was hard, but gratifying at the same time. It was my second period in Santiago, away from the family and my boyfriend. It is always hard been in other city, that’s why I try to be busy all the time.

This time I decided to do two different things. First, I decided to work with the student centre of my school, because last year there were another group in the CECSo and they did all wrong and they discouraged our partners. So this year, with a big group of people that wanted a change, we decide to reanimate the space. And it worked! We made a great job, with a lot of projects that motivated the people.

The other thing that I decided to do is return to the football. I used to play football before the university, but I left it because it took a lot of time. But this year I start practicing again and is great. Making sport relax me and help me a lot. I really like to be in the female football team of Juan Gómez Millas, because I do something that I enjoy with great people.

But this year is not ended yet, I have to approve all my classes with the best marks possible. Maybe, is a little too early to speak about a ending year.

Hello everybody!  Today I’m going to talk about gender and the conference of Johanna Blakley “Social media and the end of gender”. In this video, you can see a description about the actual condition of social media, in compare to the old idea of this media. Before, social media and entertainment were based on the idealisation of people according to their age and gender, now is possible see that something have change: Woman are dominating this area. It is not that women decide about what happen in the media companies, but women are increasing their interest in this medias, been the most important user of them. This means, for Johanna, that social media going to be driving for women’s taste.  So, what have this related to the end of gender? For Blakley, this means that woman going to change gender idealization like “chick flick”, finishing the gender categories.

For me, this have nothing relate to gender.  I thing that gender idealisation don’t going to change because there are more women on social media. If we don’t change our idea of gender first, more or less women on this media with the same old patriarchal ideas of gender role, isn’t going to be a difference in the gender role construction. This only means that media companies will be more interested on women’s preference, even increasing these gender categories.

If we really want to change the patriarchal construction of gender roles, we have to start teaching about feminism, not been the dolls of the media companies.

For most of the people, facebook is a platform for fun. For me is not just that, facebook is also a space of organization. It sound weird, but it allow me a fast contact to many people, that’s makes easier the communication and the organization. When you are in an organization (whatever about) facebook is a fabulous way to show yours ideas, contact other people, etc. It allow you to be informed too. You can read news, articles, opinion and a lot more.

So, I also use facebook for fun, like everyone. Is a perfect way to communicate with friends, especially if they are in other cities or countries. You can learn more about their life and about what they do. Facebook allow you to connect with people with the same pleasures, read different things, play games and listen music. Is a big platform that allow you everything.

My problem with facebook is that your privacy is not safe. Anyone can see your information and photos (still you change the privacy configuration). Much of the time there is not filter, and you can see photos of you that you don’t want on the web, but you cannot erase it because somebody else upload it.

Other thing that I don’t like about facebook is that is so much addictive. You waste time looking “the news” and left others thing without do. Much of the time I have to study but I lost my time on facebook, doing nothing! But I been trying to not open my computer on the week, so I don’t distract me on facebook.  

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to talk about the environmental care. This refers about how we change our practice to take more care about the environment and try to reduce the contamination. There are the three Rs: recycling, reducing and reuse, which are the principal action for the common people to help.

 Here in Chile, there’s not much information about this topic. Maybe in some school they teach about it, but the most of the people doesn’t know much about. But there are always some organizations that try to change these and show the people what they can do for improving the environment.

Of my part, I always try to recycle paper, battles, tin and other things. The problem is that there is not much places that helps you in this job. Also, I try to not use car, I like walking to the places that I want to go. Other thing that I do, is try to reduce my water consume, taking shorter showers.

I think that the principal problem in Santiago (and in all the country), is that the authorities doesn’t take care about this topic, so there is no law that make us change our habits (unfortunately we don’t change for our own initiative). Also, the industry won’t change their ways of production if the authorities don’t put pressure on they.

Hello classmates and teacher! Today I’m going to talk about what I want to do in my future when I finish my career. Normally, the people who study sociology knows the workplace of a sociologist and knows what they want to do with their job title. That is not my case. When I started study sociology, I really didn’t know anything about the jobs related to the career. I decided study sociology because I like the idea of “study the society”, but at that time, my knowing about the career wasn’t much. Now I have a better idea of what is the job of a sociologist and I realise that my place in this area are the research and the projects. I hate de idea of being working in an office, I want to travel to different places and make projects that improve the quality of life of the people. I have a teacher that always told us the jobs that he made when he ended the career. He told that he travel to the all country visiting different cities and towns and working with the people of that places. I want to do something similar, I really like the idea of work with the people who needs of you and prepare projects together. 

Hello everybody! Today I’m going to talk about my favourite authors and books. Since I remember, reading was one of my hobbies. When I was little, I read the entire Harry Potter saga. But now that kind of literature is not more of my interest. When I started growing my interest change and I started reading other kind of novels. I don’t know how to describe this type of literature, but the stories have another sense, something more philosophical and transcendental. This is the kind of books that I like. One of my favourite author is Herman Hesse, he is a German writer that wrote novels and poetry. My favourite titles of Hesse are “The Steppenwolf” and “Demian”. This two books really change my way of understanding life.  Other author that I really like is Julio Cortázar, he was an Argentine writer who have a lot of poems, stories and novels. His masterpiece is “Rayuela” and is one of my favourites. You really feel the emotion of Horacio (the principal character) like you were he. Other thing that I like from “Rayuela” is that you can read it in disorder, it doesn’t matter the order of the subtitle.  Other Costázar’s title that I like is “Bestario”, an anthology of a few of his stories. I like the surrealism of this stories. 

"El Abrazo"

Hello everybody! Today I’m going to write about the best concert I’ve ever attended. This concert was called “El Abrazo” and was at December 11 in 2010 in the “Parque O’higgins”. This name came from the hug between O’higgins and San Martin when they won the Maipu’s battle, as a metaphor of a concert with Chileans and Argentinians artist in the year of the bicentennial of the independences of both countries. In this event, a lot of artists were on stage during the all day. My favourites artist there were Spinetta, Fito Páez, Los Tres, Charly García and Andrés Calamaro, but there were on stage a lot of other artist that I like too.  I gone there with a lot of friends and we have a lot of fun. The atmosphere there was perfect to enjoy the concert, because there were a lot of people like us enjoying the concert. We were in front of a big screen and see all very good. It takes the all day, so when it ended, we were so tired. I remember, I came home at 3:00, directly to bed. 

Hello everybody! Today I`m going to talk about an article related of my career. This article is not an academic article, is more like a new, but it is related with two things that I really like: Sociology and Football. The name of this article is “Costa Rica invite sociologist into dressing room” and is refer about the sociologist that work in the coaching staff of the Costa Rica’s football team. Here, you can notice the job of Jaime Perozzo (the sociologist) in this football team and realise the importance that he have in the teamwork. He improves the collective game and make feedbacks after every game, that make a strongest team.

I really like this article because it show how can the sociologist use they knowledge to help the development of the sports, especially the football play, that is my favourite sport. You can always see how the social aspects of the daily life are reflected in the match, and you can use that to strengthen the collective game.

Hi everybody! Today I'm going to talk about the places that I want to visit in my life.

First, I want to travel around all this country and know every corner of the land. I only know the north of Chile, but nothing of the south. Chile has a lot of interesting and beautiful landscapes and we didn’t take advantage of them. Personally, more than get to the traditional tourist places, I want to know the common places of every city, this places where go the people who live there and realize their life there. I want to be part of the common life of the city, not be a tourist.

Other place that I want to visit is not only a country, is a little more ambition. I want to travel around all Latin America. This continent has a lot of culture and fantastical places. Fortunately, I know part of it, but I stay in every country only a few days. I want to visit every latin country and stay there enough time for been part of the native people.

Hope I can realize my ambitions, is hard, but not impossible.

Hi everyone, today I’m going to talk about my experience writing this blog.

In the beginning, I thought this was a super boring idea with no sense. For me was a little easy to write a few words about a specific topic. Then I understand that it was not so easy. Every time the topic were more complex than the before, and the minimum words start increase.

What I don`t like about the way to do this, is that we cannot choose our topic in the week. There was only one time we chose the topic, but only one. Sometimes the topics weren’t the best, were boring, or sometime the conditions, like “say something specific”, were a little forced. Maybe it would be better to make us to choose between two topics and without conditions, only with suggestions.

This blog help me to improve my writing skills in English and I think it help to my classmates too. When we start, I read a few post from my classmates and I founded them bad. Now I read my first publications and I found my own mistakes. I’m sure, I still making mistakes, but I’m sure that there are fewer than before.

Hi, today I’m going to talk about the three Rs, recycle, reuse and reduce.

Recycle means that you separate your trash according to the different materials. That’s for the different recycling places that reproduce thing with your trash. You can also recycling by your own doing handmade stuff.

Reuse refers to use again something that normally you use one time. For example plastic bags, you get them in the supermarket and then you use at home for your trash can.

And reduce means that you try to consume the minimal to produce less trash, or you change your products for those that have less package or less residues.

I thing, this is a relevant topic and here in Chile we don’t take the importance that it have. We don’t have recycle centers and we don’t have the habit of separating our trash. Is time to take more responsibility with our environment and all start at home.

Today I’m going to talk about things that I will like to learn someday or thing that I start learning but then I stop and I want to pursue.

First, I like to learn more about Latin American history (and history in general), but it is really difficult because is and specific topic and is hard to learn if you don’t make a special course. Here in the university are a lot of course about that topic, but I don’t have a time to take them. So, I like to learn more about philosophy too, but the same, I don’t have time for study other things more than my career.

A thing that I start to study when I was little and I want to pursue is playing guitar. When I was 8 years old, I start taking guitar class on my school. I learn for four years, but then a classmate broke my guitar (for accident) and I was so sad than I stop playing. I forgot the most of the songs and rhythm, but I remember the most of the notes. I want to restart playing one day, but I really need time for that and in this moment I’m full of activities.

Today I'm going to talk about my favourites places to go out for eat. Usually, I don’t go out to restaurants, but there are some special moments that I can spend a little more money. When I go out for dinner or lunch, usually is with my boyfriend in Viña del Mar (we both live in that city). We like so much sushi and Kebabs (An Arabian food that is like a taco but with other meat and vegetables) and there is a restaurant that prepares both foods, it calls “Pitas & Rolls”. So, when we are indecisive, we go there and eat sushi with kebab (yes, I know, is a little too much but we love the both preparation together). But there is another restaurant that prepares better the kebabs, its name is “Ali Kebab” and are specialized in Arabian food.  They prepare the better kebab in all Viña del Mar and also have another foods very delicious, like the “parra’s leafs”. Another thing that I like from that restaurant is they garlic sauce. It has a delicious flavor and get great with all their food.

I also love peruvian food, but it is more expensive. 

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to talk about technology. I have to confess that I depend of technology, because is the most easy way to communicate with my family and friends (I came from another city, so I don’t see them much). My favourite piece of technology is my cell phone. I got a new one last week and it is like a little computer, I can do everything with it and everywhere. I’m always connecting with my people, talking, chating or with videocall.  Also, it has a lot of function, that I don’t need much my computer. I can check my mail, use social networks and read documents with it. It Is so useful. Other thing that I like of it are the plays it has. The only problem with it is that I depend much of it and I’m a little addicted. I lose a  lot of time on facebook, whatsapp or playing. Other problem is its battery, it came low so fast, I always have to bring the charger with me.

Frankfurt School

Hi everyone! Today I have to prepare my oral presentation for next week. The presentation supposed to be related with my career, what is a little difficult, because I have a lot of theme to choose.

I’m going to talk about the Frankfurt School, a group of social scientist, mostly sociologist and psychologist, that is inspired by the ideas of Hegel, Marx and Freud principally, been one of the most important current of the Neo-Marxism and funder of the critic theory. Its name came from the Frankfurt city in Germany, because they start working at the University of that city at the beginning of the twenty century.

I will start talking about the school in general, its foundation and they principal ideas. Then I will explain they principal exponents and they principal dissident.

I choose this topic because the Frankfurt School have a lot of influence in the development of the sociology of the last period and because is one of my favourite current. I want to study more of them and this is a good opportunity of learn more about it.

Hi everyone! Today I supposed to write about motivation, so I will talk about whats motivates me in this moment: ending all my tests and works for this and the next week. I have a lot of things to do for the university, that I don't have more time for me. But the good thing is that finishing this wednesday I will have ended with all my university works, so I will have time for me, my boyfriend and friends. That is what really motivame me now!

Only for this week, I did two test and one work. And here I'm not counting the listening test for the English class, fortunately, for this one I didn't need more time for study at home. Next week I have two big test, and I have to read more than 2000 pages for the both.

 I´m so tired right now, I didn't sleep well in all the week. In this moment are the two and a half of the morning and I'm still awake. I really need ending all this evaluations week. I want to go home and take a long break and SLEEP!!

Hi everyone! Today I'll like to talk about a photo that I like. Is a very simple photo, there is only a dog and my foots. It was taken in 2012 by my best friend, Francisca. We where in Valparaíso making a work for school that consist in a photo album. It was for the elective class "movies and literature". The idea was making a photo album that copy a cinema effect (it was a little rare, because the photo must express the same as a film) and then we wrote a poem with this images. So we spent all the afternoon taking pictures of my foots in differents part of the city. We have a great time making the photo album. I love all the photo of our work, but I chosen this one in specially because I found it more artistic and simple. I thing that the stray dogs of Valparaíso have something special, I don't know what it is, but I can't imagine the city whitout them.

Travel to the North of Chile

Hi everyone! Today I'm going to write abuot a travel expierence. It happened a few years ago, when I was in school. We made a student travel to the north of Chile with all my classmates. We started in ours school in Viña del Mar and a few hours later we were in La Serena. It was the FIFA world cup time, so we saw the Chile- España game in the mall of that city. When the game was over, we went to Vicuña, a little city near La Serena that have a very beautiful sky observatory. Next day we were all the time in the bus, because we have to travel till San Pedro de Atacama. We only did a few stop to eat in little places. We waked up the next day when the bus was getting into the town. This place was one of my favorite in the tour, because all the tourist place around there. We went to the Salar de Atacama and saw a lot of flamingos. Also we went to the Valle de la Luna and the Geyser del Tatio. Than we travel to Iquique, we visit the historical places of that city and the ZOFRI. At night we camped in a place distant to the city, it was so cold, but have a very natural environment. The last place we visit was de nacional park Pan de Azucar, in the return trip. The last of that day was a long bus time.

Hi everyone! My name is Tamara and I'm  in second year of sociology. I came from Viña del Mar and I'm 19 years old. My hobbies are, read (nothing abaut sociology), listen music and sleep. Also I like to play football, in the place of goalkeeper. I don't have much imagination, so I don't know what to say here. Next to me is Stalin (Gabriel) and he want to send all of us to the Gulag, so don't speak to him. It would be funny if all of you name he Stalin because he don't like that nickname. I don't know what more to write, but I promise I would change this when my imagination came back.
